Project Description:

This feasibility study project of the Railway Connection Scheme between Fortaleza and Mucuripe, Ceara State, in Brazil, included the following activities:

First Phase:

  • Socioeconomic characterisation of the study area;
  • Analysis of mobility;
  • Study of the transport system;
  • Land use.

Second Phase:

  • Study of transport demand, including the implementation of traffic surveys, preferences revealed and declared in the various modes of transport in the area;
  • Definition of technological alternatives;
  • Programme of exploitation;
  • Analysis of economic, social and financial profitability.

Third Phase:

  • Preliminary topographic and cadastral studies;
  • Preliminary geological and geotechnical studies;
  • Preliminary studies of track right of way;
  • Preliminary environmental studies;
  • Baseline of the railway line Fortaleza-Mucuripe.
