Project Description:
The overall objective of the project was the continued and sustainable improvement of environmental conditions including the management and control of water resources to meet EU standards, particularly in relation to public health and economic development of Kosovo, through support to the Kosovo municipalities and the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning (MESP) for the implementation of environmental laws at municipal level.
The project specific objectives were to:
- Strengthen the institutional capacities to improve enforcement of environmental laws and regulations;
- Improve environmental conditions through the implementation of environmental law, environmental standards and EU regulations;
- Provide support for the capacity building of MESP and municipalities;
- Ensure better communication and cooperation between the central and local level; and
- Establish an effective and profitable dialogue with all minority communities.
