Project Description:

The project consisted of a study designed to assist the World Bank team to review and assess of the Water/Wastewater and Solid Waste Investment Program and included the following tasks:

  • Determine the size and readiness for implementation of investment projects in water supply, wastewater, and solid waste;
  • Analyse and calculate the main categories of investment in each sector;
  • Suggest criteria for disbursement and monitoring under an Output Based Approach;
  • Identify the institutional framework and procedures under which progress under the proposed project could be monitored.

Types of services provided within the project included:

  • Review and assessment of the Water/Wastewater and Solid Waste Investment Program;
  • Review of projected pipeline of projects over a period of 5 years;
  • Project cost, expected time schedule including procurement and implementation for each project;
  • Expected sources of financing;
  • Analysis of the pipeline of projects;
  • Measure the willingness to make operational and financial improvements in utilities;
  • Compliance with EU Directives in the sector of Water/Wastewater and Waste;
  • Liaising with municipal public utilities;
  • Institutional framework and procedures for efficient monitoring and reporting on projects progress, etc.
