Project Description:

The objective of the project was to provide technical assistance to the demarcation of highways in the Castilla-la Mancha region for the accomplishment of studies and improvement of infrastructures related to road safety. The study was included in the General Road Safety Program, with the objective of decreasing the number of mortal accidents.

The general objectives of the project was to provide a safer road infrastructure through the implementation of a Road Safety Audit System, providing all guiding procedures for a smooth operating of the system.

Types of services provided within the project included:

  • Elaboration of an audit system for all types of roads;
  • Study of the treatment of sections of concentration of accidents;
  • Studies of the preventive measures;
  • Studies of accidents with mortal victims and proposals of performance;
  • Studies of speed and traffic and proposals for speed reduction measures;
  • Quarterly report and annual study of the effectiveness of executed actions;
  • Specific studies of road safety and assistance for the improvement of the safety computer management for the highways provincial units and networking with central safety unit;
  • Drafting the proposal of concrete actions for the improvement of the road safety;
  • Training: preparation of a training programme and dissemination of best practices
