Thanks to this contract, aimed at ensuring an adequate water supply in the municipality of Capljina, EPTISA shall perform the role of the Engineer in accordance with FIDIC conditions of contract.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is using the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in parallel with an EU-IPA Grant administered by the Bank, to benefit the Municipality of Capljina and JKP “Komunalno” Capljina, the municipal utility company providing public services in water supply and wastewater. The proceeds of the loan will be used towards financing the expansion of the water supply system to rural areas and for the reconstruction of the existing system in the urban area.

Capljina - water supply

In relation to this Programme, EPTISA has recently been awarded the technical assistance contract for the provision of supervision and quality control services for all the works that are to be implemented.

Thanks to this new assignment, a team of engineers from EPTISA will supervise the design, construction, testing and commissioning of the new water supply system. EPTISA will act as “the Engineer” and will carry out its regular duties in accordance with FIDIC Conditions of Contract. The assignment will include the following tasks:

  • To review any existing data for the assignment (technical concept, detailed designs and technical specifications);
  • To supervise all contractors to carry out works in an effective and timely manner in accordance with the Contract terms and conditions;
  • To provide timely recommendations and reporting to the Employer on the contract administration process; and
  • To assist the Employer to provide the Bank with data, advice and information in relation to the contract administration and supervision for works.

It is also important to highlight that EPTISA recently finalised another contract Capljina, aimed at the provision of support for the development and implementation of a Financial and Operational Performance Improvement Programme (FOPIP) and for the preparation of a Public Service Agreement between the water utility company and the Municipality.

This new assignment further strengthens EPTISA’s position as one of the leading environmental engineering service providers in Southeast Europe, with relevant projects under implementation in the fields of water, wastewater and solid waste in all the countries in the region.

EPTISA has been working in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1999. Our local office counts on a team of engineers and other professionals that provide project management and backstopping support for several projects under implementation throughout the country.
