The new project, financed by the European Union, will contribute to improving the state of environment and to providing better health and living conditions to the citizens of Kosovo (under UNSCR 1244/99).

The project “Support to the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning (MESP) in Water Management and Monitoring of Water Resources”, recently awarded to EPTISA, is funded by the European Union’s Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) with a budget of almost 1.2 million Euros.

The contract aims to provide technical support to its main beneficiary, the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, for a further approximation to the standards underlined in the EU Water Framework Directive.

For the next 24 months, a team of experts from EPTISA will provide technical assistance in order to enhance the capacity of the Kosovar authorities in the water sector. More specifically, the team will give advice in the planning and implementation of improvements in the fields of water resources protection and integrated water management. The intervention will eventually lead to a unified Water Strategy at a national level.  The assignment also aims to effectively integrate a Water Action and Investment Plan into the evolving expenditure frameworks and management structures presiding over the sector.

EPTISA has vast experience in managing complex water management projects all over the world, and especially in the Eastern European region. As a result, our expert teams have an excellent understanding of all the requirements of the demanding European standards in the water sector.
