Project Description:
The project consist of support the 7 regions in Bulgaria in the preparation of a series of projects for solid waste, including the pre-feasibility studies and update the regional waste management systems to comply with the European legislation. The main beneficiary is the Ministry of Environment and Waters of Bulgaria.
Types of services provided:
- Analysis of the existing systems for waste management and the legislation which regulates them;
- Evaluation of the current institutional framework;
- Evaluation of the administrative capacity of the final beneficiary and their readiness to manage future waste management projecs;
- Support the municipality to create the Regional Association for the Waste Management (RAWM) in each region;
- Support in providing financial stability for Waste Management Systems;
- Development of alternative solutions and recommendations for the future waste management systems
