Project Description:
The overall objective of this project is to contribute to improving environmental protection at the local and regional levels through supporting investments for the public sector and strengthening the institutional capacity and capacities to manage Phare ESC grant schemes and future structural funds.
By raising the awareness of the relevant regional and local authorities of the grant scheme application guidelines and training their staff, this project supports the implementation of the Phare 2006 ESC environmental investment grant scheme for the public sector at the regional and local levels and increases the number of EU-funded environmental investment projects and grant schemes.
The intervention is divided into two main tasks:
- Provide support for implementing the Phare ESC 2006 environmental investment grant scheme for the public sector in the eight development regions;
- Strengthen the capacity of the relevant institutions and grant beneficiaries to manage the implementation of EU-funded environmental investment projects and grant schemes.
